This Cookie Policy explains how Pixel Reef, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies on NeatDish at neatdish.com ("the Service").
1. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. We also use related browser technologies including local storage (persistent key-value data stored in your browser), session storage, Cache Storage API (used by our Service Worker for offline functionality), and web beacons (small tracking pixels).
2. Cookies We Use
a) Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the Service to function and cannot be disabled.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |

neatdish-locale | NeatDish | Stores your preferred language so the Service displays content in the correct locale. | 1 year |
b) Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors use the Service so we can improve it.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique visitors by assigning a randomly generated ID. | 2 years |
_ga_* | Google Analytics | Maintains session state for Google Analytics 4. | 2 years |
_gid | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique visitors over a 24-hour period. | 24 hours |
Vercel Analytics is also used for performance monitoring. Vercel Analytics is designed to be privacy-friendly and generally does not set cookies. It collects page-view and web-vital data through lightweight scripts.
c) Third-Party Cookies
When you click affiliate links (e.g., Amazon shopping links), the destination site may set its own cookies. We do not control third-party cookies. Cloudflare Turnstile and Vercel Bot Protection may also use cookies or similar technologies when performing human verification or bot detection.
3. Local Storage
We use browser local storage to save your preferences and app data locally on your device. This data is never transmitted to our servers unless specifically noted.
| Key | Purpose | Transmitted |
|---|---|---|
neatdish-ingredients | Your saved pantry ingredient list | Sent to our API only when you request recipes |
neatdish-recipes | Cached generated recipes for display | No |
neatdish-rejected | Names of rejected recipes (used to avoid repeats) | Sent to our API when you request new recipes |
neatdish-recipes-presentation | Recipe display mode preference | No |
neatdish-recipe-consent | Records your acceptance of AI recipe safety terms | No |
neatdish-locale | Preferred language (mirrors cookie) | No |
4. Cache Storage (Service Worker)
The Service uses a Service Worker that caches static assets (images, scripts, stylesheets) in your browser's Cache Storage under the cache name neatdish-v3. This enables faster page loads and limited offline functionality. API requests are not cached. You can clear this cache through your browser's developer tools or site settings.
5. How to Manage Cookies and Local Data
- Browser Settings: Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through their settings. Note that blocking essential cookies may impair the Service's functionality.
- Google Analytics Opt-out: Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data.
- Clear Local Storage: In most browsers, you can clear local storage through Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data (select "Cookies and other site data") or through the browser's developer tools (Application → Local Storage).
- Clear Cache Storage: Cache Storage can be cleared through your browser's developer tools (Application → Cache Storage) or by unregistering the Service Worker.
6. Do Not Track
The Service does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" (DNT) browser signals as there is no industry-standard method for doing so. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the add-on linked above.
7. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
